Lots of friends have asked me over the years to send them photos of the latest cakes I have made. So I decided I may as well just create a blog and publish the cakes as I make them for all to see. Hope you enjoy!

Elephant Christening Cake

I was asked to make a Christening Cae with an Elephant (with his trunk up for good luck) and a smal pile of books.  I think it worked out pretty well.

The elephant, books and blocks were all hand molded out of fondant.

Halloween Cupcakes

We had a Halloween Drinks night at work so I made some cupcakes for the night.

Spider (my favourite)!

Ghost

The Pumpkins

The Gravestone

The Mummy

Handbag Cake

A girlfriend was celebrating her 40th Birthday and I offered to make her the handbag cake she wanted for the big event.

I based it on a similar cake from Planet Cake with the colours of Black and Pink really making it pop.

Ladybird Princess

One of my girls asked for a Ladybird princess cake.  I used the Dolly Varden tin and bought some sugar ladybirds online and placed them around the skirt.

Princess Cake

My youngest asked for a Princess with Frogs cake.  We had been reading the story of the Princess and the frog prince where she must have got the idea from.
I made the frogs out of fondant but used butter cream on the cake.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Cake

A girlfriend called in a bit of a panic on the morning before her son's birthday. I headed accross to her house and we put together the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Head that he had very specifically asked for.

Humpty Dumpty Cake

My sister made this cake for her son's 2nd Birthday.
She coloured the coconut to be grass around the bottom and used the end of a match box to make the brick shapes in the butter icing.  I love how she made Humpty out of a real egg!

Animal Cupcakes

My sisters Mothers Group were having a joint third Birthday Party for all the children.  My sister and I put together some animal cupcakes so that each child could have their own cake at the party.
We placed the cakes on a black cardboard number three so there was some order to the cakes.

The frog.

The ladybird

The monkey

The lion

The pig

George the Monkey Cake

My middle daughter was obsessed with George the Monkey Books so of course asked for a George cake for her third birthday.
She also loves butter icing so I free hand iced George's face onto a basic square cake.  I edged the cake with lolly banana's for an added monkey touch!

Princess Castle Cake

For my daughters 5th birthday she asked for a "Princess Castle" cake.  It was alot easier than I thought as you just ice some ice cream cones and pop them on a cake!

Rainbow Cake

My girlfriends daughter asked for a "Rainbow cake" for her 5th Birthday.  I decided to surprise her and make the cake rainbow as well.
I made an egg white based icing so that it was a very white base for the multicoloured rainbow on top.

Rabbit Cake

My youngest daughters 1st Birthday fell on the same weekend as Easter so we had to have a Rabbit Cake !!
I had some trouble with the blue gel icing I used for the eyes and have never used the pre-bought gel icing ever since.  Over all this was an easy cake and the family loved it.

Teddy Bear Cake

My sister made this fantastic teddy bear cake for her son's first Birthday.
She used three cupcakes to create the nose and ears and covered it all in chocolate icing.  She then used coco pops to create the textured look which not only looked great but tasted fantastic !!

Butterfly Cake

One of my girlfriends daughter is also best friends with my oldest daughter.  I often make her birthday cake and every year she always has a plan for what she would like me to create.

For her fourth birthday she was very specific and asked me to make her a pink and purple butterfly cake.
I made the centre of the butterfly in a loaf tin and the wings using two heart shaped cakes with the points trimmed off.

Mermaid

My oldest daughter asked for a "Mermaid in the Sea" cake for her 4th Birthday.  It was one of my first times modeling fondant into shapes.  She loved it and all her friends thought it was great !

I used a egg white based icing for the wave like feel on the cake and jelly snakes for the seawed.  I bought a Barbie and modeled the fondant around her legs for the tail and used some coloured sugar on the top for a glitter effect.

Christening cakes

After being asked many times for images of the cakes I have made over the years I thought I would create a blog so they are all in one place for anyone to look at!

I recently made a Christening cake for my gorgeous God Daughter.  I used a new baby mould I bought for rthe occasion and I think it turned out really well.

I love the simplicity of a Christening Cake with the clean smooth white icing.  For this party I also made some "onsie" biscuits for the kids.

This was the fourth Christening cake I have made though the first three (for my girls) were not as intricate or as exciting !!  I need more friends to have babies so I can use this fabulous mould again. Ha Ha!!
